CCT02 Colour Challenge

The second Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge of 2017 is a colour challenge using these hues:

I pulled out an oldish Hero Arts wood-mounted stamp called Collage Merry and Bright to put together this simple vintage card:

Sympathy Card in Gold

The CFC165 CAS-ual Fridays challenge is "Everything Turns To Gold". This is a large (5.5 X 8.5) card that I made for a group condolence card.

I put a number of folded pages inside to allow for a lot of notes and signatures, and enclosed them with a pamphlet stitch.

I embossed the flowers with gold embossing powder. The flowers and butterfly are from Altenew, and the sentiment is from Verve Stamps.
I stamped a matching envelope in Delicata Gold ink. Thanks for visiting!

Winter Birthday

Quite some time ago I purchased the Penny Black stamp "Astral" at my local stamp store. I don't really have anything else like it. It's a reverse image so the bird and trees are the negative space on the rubber surface. I finally had time to try it out.

I smooshed Distress Inks on the stamp and spritzed with water. After stamping I heat dried the ink and then added some white gel pen and purple watercolour pencil to highlight and shade (detail below).

The sentiment stamp is from a Waltzingmouse Stamps set. I am entering this in the "Anything Goes" challenges at Seize the Birthday and the Penny Black Saturday Challenge and the Penny Black and More Allsorts Challenge.

CCT01 First Christmas Card of 2017

2016 was a disaster as far as making Christmas cards ahead and being well-prepared for the season. A while ago I had a few good years of doing Christmas cards year round so I wouldn't be stressed come December. Last year was not one of those years! So here I am, determined to change it up in 2017.

The Christmas Card Throwdown sketch seemed a good place to start - although I found it inordinately challenging. Still, I had downloaded Sylvia Durocher's Christmas Card Challenge list for 2017 and in January she's looking for a star and the colour gold. On my trip to Florida in November I snagged this Dina Wakley Script Star stamp and was happy for a chance to use it.

Here's the CCT01 sketch:

Here's my navy, yellow and gold card:
In keeping with the naive art format, I drew around the star with a gold Wink of Stella brush pen. I am still trying to decide if it needs a sentiment on the lower right corner. I feel that may take away from the simplicity of it and compete with the star, so perhaps not.

Here is the inside, where I used the scrap from the die cut and watercoloured some detail:
Stamps: Dina Wakley Script Star
Inks: Delicata Golden Glitz; StazOn Spiced Chai; Marvy Matchables Yellow
Accessories: Canson Mi-Teintes Drawing Paper (Navy); Watercolour Paper; Zig Clean Colour Brushes; Wink of Stella Gold; Memory Box Die (Country Landscape)

I am entering this in the Love to Craft Challenge Blog, too, as their theme is Anything Goes. (Thanks for the tip, Deborah!) Thanks for stopping by!
